THE BEST WRITING IS RE-WRITING

PROFESSOR BARBARA GILL-MAYBERRY

The writing process for ENG105 is not like any of the other English class in high school.

The first step is to get a unity as a central idea in which an idea is developed and explored. This is the start of an essay which means the foundation of this essay will need to be established early and powerfully.

The second step is to focus on the audience. Who is the audience of this essay? Who am I writing for? The audience will be addressed and talked to form the essay.

The third step is the rough draft as an initial draft needs to be done to be judged and redone further.

The rough draft is essential as this will be the rewrite of the many drafts that is to come.

The fourth step is to peer edit with the other colleagues. As others are able see problems we cannot see.

The fifth step is the rewriting. The rewrite should eliminate all the previous mistakes, ensuring the rewriting and the final writing is the best writing.

The sixth step is the teacher conference as at the end of the day, the professor has the most knowledge on what is right or wrong.
